MAINA: Mechanism for Automated Inference of Negotiable Attributes from Contrasts in Declarative Representation

چکیده

Representation of business rules in contracts has been widely studied in AI literature. Courteous Logic Programs (CLP) developed at IBM explicitly incorporates prioritized conflict handling into its declarative semantics [1][2]. Business Rules Markup Language (BRML), an XML encoding of CLP, features the representation with simple parsing, easy integration into the world-wide-web, and most importantly robust interchangeability with heterogeneous commercial rule systems [6]. However, a problem that has not been fully addressed in CLP/BRML is the inference of negotiable attributes from contracts, which is of particular interest in automated trading where agents need agree upon terms of contracts through negotiation. Challenges agents often face in such situations are the ignorance of non-predefined negotiable attributes and the difficulty of finding them. This mini project then aims at exploiting appropriate representation to allow automated inference of negotiable attributes. To this end, contract format is first defined in CLP syntax subject to two light-weight restrictions. Then, a mechanism MAINA is developed to discover directly, indirectly, and weakly negotiable attributes by applying direct intersection, condition matching, and dynamic rule modification on negotiating contracts. Successful in identifying negotiable attributes, the changes to CLP/BRML incur a small overhead and retain the two most decent properties of CLP/BRML – computational tractability and high-level human understandability. Due to the novelty of this work, no detailed analyses were done to study the complexities of MAINA, yet the implementation is indeed efficiency-aware.

A critical study of Wahhabism interpretation from verses that deal with declarative attributes

Some verses of the Holy Quran ascribe attributes to God, the Almighty. This ascription has led to similitude and embodiment. The nature of these attributes has been one of the constant concerns of Quran scholars from the beginning of the spread of the knowledge of interpretation until today. Having these concerns in mind, the commentators have interpreted these verses according to their beliefs...

A New Algorithm for Optimization of Fuzzy Decision Tree in Data Mining

Decision-tree algorithms provide one of the most popular methodologies for symbolic knowledge acquisition. The resulting knowledge, a symbolic decision tree along with a simple inference mechanism, has been praised for comprehensibility. The most comprehensible decision trees have been designed for perfect symbolic data. Classical crisp decision trees (DT) are widely applied to classification t...

Toward a Declarative Language for Negotiating Executable Contracts

We give an approach to automating the negotiation of business contracts. Our goal is to develop a language for both partially-specified contracts that are in the midst of being negotiated, including via automated auctions. Our starting point for this language is Courteous Logic Programs (CLP’s), a form of logic-based knowledge representation (KR) that is semantically declarative, intuitively na...

Novel Automated Method for Minirhizotron Image Analysis: Root Detection using Curvelet Transform

In this article a new method is introduced for distinguishing roots and background based on their digital curvelet transform in minirhizotron images. In the proposed method, the nonlinear mapping is applied on sub-band curvelet components followed by boundary detection using energy optimization concept. The curvelet transform has the excellent capability in detecting roots with different orient...
